“The incident happened around 1 PM when I saw smoke from the roof of Mr. Hendrik’s house. Shortly after, fire was seen. The locals then warned the house owner as well as residents whose house near the location to evacuate and save their belongings. We also had tried to extinguish the fire, but it enlarged instead,” said Jaka, a local.

Within moments, fire burned the back of the house which located right behind the school. Fire also had spread a little to the school building. Luckily, firemen from South Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department arrived fast at the scene and immediately localized the fire to prevent it from spreading to other buildings.
